About This Hunt

Hunt Country The country lies in Roxburghshire, and is mostly hill rising to 2,000 feet above sea level with extensive afforestation in some parts. There is not much jumping, but there are some timber and stone walls. The main attributes required in a horse to cross the country are stamina and surefootedness. Adjacent packs are the Duke of Buccleuch's, Jedforest, Border, North Tyne and Bewcastle. The season extends from early September to late March. Best centres: Langholm, Hawick and Newcastleton.

Hunt History The Hunt dates from the beginning of the 18th century and has existed in its present form to a great extent. Hounds remain in kennels all summer.

Secretary:  Mrs. A. Elliot.
